Mrs Vaz-Heaven has almost 30 years’ experience in human resource (HR) management and development, which includes providing strategic leadership and direction on all HR functions.  This experience has allowed her to enable effective people management and improve service quality through the ongoing development and/or review of policies and procedures.

She was Called to the Bar of England and Wales in July 2024 and has recently completed a Master of Laws with specialisms in Employment Law and Family Law at The City Law School in England.

In addition to her legal qualifications, she has a Master of Science Degree in HR Development, a Bachelor of Science Degree in HR Management, and a Bachelor of Laws Degree.  She is also certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources-International (SPHRi), which “demonstrates mastery of generally accepted HR principles in strategy, policy development and service delivery, independent of geographic region.”  SPHRi is globally recognized and is accredited by the National Commission of Certifying Agencies and the International Accreditation Service Inc. respectively and is ISO certified (ISO/IEC 17024) by the International Organization for Standardization. 

She is a thought leader, who is innovative in unlocking the potential of others and inspiring them to unleash their own creativity, in order to generate new and better ways of accomplishing goals.  She is also an adaptive leader, who anticipates changes in the internal and external environment and implements strategies to address them and can also work through difficult situations to transform culture, mindsets, practices and other barriers to realising the vision of an organisation.
